Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ is a synthetic blend heavy duty, extreme pressure, nonsolvent containing lubricant that is specifically formulated to take advantage of Lincoln’ SL-V® injector technology. Lincoln SL-V® reset at higher pressures, which correspond to a 20º F temperature advantage. Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ is recommended for the lubrication of all types open gearing, and girth gears, found on shovels and draglines, excavators, ball mills, grinding mills, kilns, rotary furnace and dryers. It can also be used in the lubrication of antifriction bearings, babbitt bearings, pins and bushings of shovels and draglines and wire rope applications.

Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ is compounded from a unique blend of select solvent refined severely, hydrofinished high viscosity index paraffin base oils, high viscosity non-asphaltic, non-bitumen containing resin base paraffinic oils and polyalphaolefin synthetic base oils. The PAO synthetic base fluids provide the Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ with a variety of enhancements in the area of wear protection, energy efficiency, high temperature performance and low temperature fluidity. These PAO synthetic base fluids were selected for their exceptional physical and chemical stability and high viscosity index. These properties translate into lower traction coefficients, greater viscoelasticity and an increased elastrohydrodynamic lubricant film thickness. This base oil combination was further selected for their exceptional physical and chemical stability, and their exceptional serviceability over a wide range of temperatures. These base fluids are further compounded to provide the Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ with superior adhesive film-forming characteristics. This adhesive film-forming characteristic allows the Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ to resist “squeeze out” and “sling out” along with allowing the product to cling tenaciously, even to gears that are in a vertical orientation. Also this compounding allows Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ to have a superior resistance to oil separation due to centrifugal forces that are common in many coupling applications.

In addition this special compounding allows Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ to remain soft and pliable over a long period of time without the use of any kind of solvents, especially nonflammable chlorinated solvents and flammable solvents such as mineral spirits, and aromatic naphtha.

To fortify the adhesive film strength of Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ a combination of molybdenum disulfide and different types of solid lubricants in conjunction with a multifunctional extreme pressure additive package are compounded into Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ . The molybdenum disulfide and the different types of solid lubricants contribute to the structure of the film, and also improve the anti-wear, extreme pressure characteristics and load-carrying capabilities of Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ beyond those of conventional type open gear lubricants.

The combination of molybdenum disulfide and different types of solid lubricants form a protective layer in order to provide a barrier layer between the mating surface of the gear and the pinion. This not only contributes to structure of the adhesive base oil film, but also will handle loads in excess of 500,000 lbs./sq in. Further, the combination of molybdenum disulfide and different types of solid lubricants diffuse into the metal, hardening the surface in the load bearing areas of the gearing and smoothing out existing damage through plastic deformation.

Silver Streak Quick Vent ™ offers the following performance advantages:

  1. Forms an almost indestructible adhesive film with the “cushioning” effect even under extreme pressures and very low speeds.
  2. Provides a thick elastrohydrodynamic film that provides outstanding load carrying and anti-wear capabilities.
  3. Resists film destruction by contaminating oils or greases migrating from nearby mechanisms.
  4. Resistant to water washout.
  5. Reduction in contact temperatures.
  6. Minimization of cold welding at the contacting asperities .
  7. Minimization of the vibration of “stick-slip”
  8. Resistant to the adhesion of dust and dirt .
  9. Excellent reduced wear characteristics.
  10. Reduced lubricant consumption rates
  11. Excellent pumpability at ambient temperatures
  12. Remains soft and pliable during use .
  13. Readily drains from the gear guards.
  14. Elimination of the build-up in the root zones of the gearing resulting in a reduction in downtime and maintenance.
  15. Extended gear life.
  16. Reduced disposal costs.
  17. Toxic Characteristic Leaching Procedure Safe .

*Product containers must be kept inside at -4ºF or higher. Below that temperature, the pump may not be able to pick up the product and distribute from the drum to the system. These temperature pumpability ratings may vary with types of equipment and dispensing system configuration used.
