Pumpable Cam Lube is a semi-synthetic extreme pressure lubricant recommended for the lubrication of cam and slide walking cam mechanisms found on Bucyrus-Erie 2500 series draglines and the Marion 8800 and 8900 draglines.

It is compounded from a unique blend of select high viscosity index solvent refined severely hydro-finished paraffin base oils and synthetic base fluids. These base oils were selected for their exceptional physical and chemical stability, and their service ability over wide temperature ranges. These base fluids are further compounded to provide the product with superior adhesive film forming characteristics, which allow exceptional plasticity, flowability and adherence to the load bearing surfaces.

To fortify the adhesive film strength of the Pumpable Cam Lube a combination of non-lead containing extreme pressure agents, molybdenum disulfide and various solid lubricants are further blended into the product. This combination contributes to the structure of the film formed by the paraffin base oils and synthetic base fluids by forming a monomolecular boundary lubrication film on the metallic surfaces of the cam and slide mechanism that improves the anti-wear, extreme pressure and load carrying capabilities of the Pumpable Cam Lube beyond those of a conventional walking cam lubes.

During a relocation walking cam mechanisms such as the cam and slide mechanism have their bearing surfaces in a sliding motion with the line of contact being in the path of the frame. This line of contact results in contacting stresses that can create pressures that will actually exceed the yield strength of the metal at the contacting asperities, thus creating a potential for high temperatures and metal welding. The extremely high content of molybdenum disulfide and various solid lubricants in conjunction with the extreme pressure agents in the Pumpable Cam Lube forms a protective layer between the contacting asperities. This protective layer provides a cushioning effect between the contacting asperities that helps to reduce contact temperatures and minimizes metal welding. The combined action of the film forming and anti-weld characteristics of the Pumpable Cam Lube helps to eliminate chatter and vibration during walks as well as reducing friction, wear and the resultant high cost of repairs and downtime.

Because of its unique compounding, Cam Lube remains soft and pliable during usage without the use of any kind of solvents, especially nonflammable chlorinated solvents, such as 1,1,1 Trichloroethane, Perochloroethylene and Tetrachloroethylene that are being considered undesirable for use due to environmental considerations.

Pumpable Cam Lube meets and exceeds the EPA Toxicity Characteristics Leaching Procedure (TCLP) and is characterized as TCLP safe. Pumpable Cam Lube is applied by heavy-duty automatic lube or spray systems. Pumpable Cam Lube should be applied liberally during the changeover period to ensure complete removal of the previous lubricant and the establishment of the plating of its solid lubricants.
