The Facts
HTC Oil 10W-30 is a multi-grade anti-wear oil that is specially formulated for use in mobile and industrial hydraulic systems that are subjected to wide variations in ambient and system operating temperatures.
It is blended from the finest high viscosity index severely solvent refined, severely hydro-finished 100% paraffin base stocks available. These high viscosity index 100% pure paraffin base stocks provide it with the following:
Excellent thermal stability.
Excellent resistance to oxidation and thermal degradation.
A naturally high viscosity index. This results in a minimum change in viscosity that helps prevent excessive leakage, sluggish operation and lower overall efficiency and other deficiencies attributed to low viscosity index oils over wide operating temperature ranges.
Excellent film strength. This results in increased wear protection.
Excellent operating temperature reduction. 100% paraffin base oils have better specific heat values (less heat is absorbed) and better thermal conductivity than convention base oils. These combined properties help reduce operating temperatures.
Superior chemical stability.
Low volatility. This results is lower makeup requirements due to evaporation loss and less deposit formation.
Low carbon forming tendencies.
Blended into these 100% pure paraffin base stocks is a highly specialized multifunctional additive package and an extremely shear stable polymer type viscosity index improver. The highly specialized performance additive package provides HTC Oil SAE 10W-30 with the following performance benefits:

The extremely shear stable polymer-type viscosity improver provides HTC Oil SAE 10W-30 with a viscosity index of 151. This extremely high viscosity index allows HTC Oil SAE 10W-30 to exhibit low temperature properties that permit hydraulic pumps to be safely started at low ambient temperatures where the flow properties of a conventional equivalent straight grade hydraulic oil might cause problems. Conversely, when the hydraulic equipment reaches operating temperature, the high viscosity index of HTC Oil SAE 10W-30 allows it to have the proper viscosity needed in order to minimize internal pump leakage and wear.
Hydraulic Trends
The trend among modern hydraulic pump builders is to make their units more compact by employing higher system pressures and high pump speeds. This often results in conditions of thin-film lubrication. This thin-film lubrication can result in excessive pump wear. This excessive wear can cause a loss in the efficiency of the hydraulic system, which all too often results in a costly shutdown for maintenance.
The Schaeffer Solution
To prevent wear, hydraulic oil must contain anti-wear additives. Though HTC Oil SAE 10W-30 contains an exceptional anti-wear additive package that lasts longer than most anti-wear additive packages found in conventional hydraulic oils, this exceptional anti-wear package will also disappear over a period of time.
To fortify the anti-wear capabilities, Micron Moly® is further blended into HTC Oil SAE 10W-30. Micron Moly is a liquid soluble type of moly that plates to the sliding and rubbing surfaces of the hydraulic system. This plating action forms a long lasting solid lubricant film that is able to withstand pressures up to 500,000 pounds per square inch. Once plated to the sliding and rubbing surfaces, Micron Moly not only produces a smooth finished surface, but also reduces friction between the moving parts. This results in less heat being generated, which in turn reduces operating temperatures and downtime. Micron Moly HTC SAE 10W-30 can also be used as a slide and way lube.
