114LF Synthetic Plus Sour Natural Gas Engine Oil SAE 30 & 40

Medium ash, para-synthetic sour natural gas engine oil for stationary equipment

Synthetic Plus Sour Natural Gas Engine Oil is for use in medium- to high-speed,
4-cycle gas engines running on landfill gas or sour gas. Meets and exceeds Waukesha’s requirements for medium ash oils and the requirements of industrial exhaust gas catalytic converter manufacturers.

Natural gas engines are subjected to higher combustion chamber and operating temperatures, which can cause the oil to thicken and deposits to form. Synthetic Plus Sour Natural Gas Engine Oil offers superior resistance against oxidation and nitration throughout the oil’s entire drain interval. This lasting performance allows for longer drain intervals without compromising engine durability.

Synthetic Plus Sour Natural Gas Engine Oil provides superior deposit control, which keeps the piston crown, combustion chamber, cylinder valves, cylinder walls and components exceptionally clean.

Like all Schaeffer Oils, Synthetic Plus Sour Natural Gas Engine Oil delivers strong protection against friction and wear to allow for increased engine life and reliability. Using our proprietary friction modifiers, Micron Moly® and Penetro®, Synthetic Plus Sour Natural Gas Engine Oil creates a slippery, tenacious shield that prevents metal-to-metal contact. This added layer of durability protection significantly reduces wear on bearings, rings, pistons, cylinders and valve trains.

Because of the corrosive nature of landfill and sour gases, used oil analysis should be performed every 250 to 500 hours, and tests must include:

  • Total Base Number ASTM D2896
  • Total Acid Number ASTM D664

Performance Benefits

  • Elimination of piston skirt varnish, and excellent piston groove, land and skirt    cleanliness.
  • Minimized combustion chamber ash accumulation and plug fouling.
  • Excellent thermal and oxidative stability and anti-coking protection.
  • Exhaust gas catalytic converter capability (phosphorous level less than 300 parts per million).
  • Reduced piston, ring cylinder wall and bearing wear and corrosion.
  • Excellent TBN reserve and alkalinity retention to neutralize acidic components.
  • Increased engine durability and reliability.
